Mountain State Street Machines becomes a nonprofit

ELKINS – Our Town Inc. and the Mountain State Street Machines recently combined efforts to offer the community another memorable Fourth of July Celebration.
Fresh off the heels of Independence Day success, the organizations have announced that Mountain State Street Machines has become an independent nonprofit corporation.
“Our Town is proud of what’s been accomplished together over the past eight years,” Our Town president Tammy Dolly said. “Watching the Mountain State Street Machines grow from a program within Our Town into its own nonprofit is exactly the kind of outcome we hoped for. We congratulate the Mountain State Street Machines team and look forward to seeing them build on this tradition.”
After the annual Fourth of July Car Show lost its sponsorship in 2018, Our Town stepped up to the plate and helped keep the event alive. That effort led to additional community events, including free concerts and cruise-ins at the Rotary Amphitheater and Elkins Town Square.
For years now, Our Town has offered the community a Fourth of July Concert coupled with the Car Show and a fireworks display as part of its annual celebration. This year the Car Show returned to the Elkins City Park after a long hiatus.
“For years, organizers worked toward returning the car show to Elkins City Park, which happened this year with the Mountain State Street Machines Car Extravaganza,” said Dolly. “The event drew strong participation and turnout, marking the return to City Park after years of planning by volunteers, participants, sponsors, and supporters.”
With Our Town’s Summer Concert Series winding down at the end of August, the organization is currently exploring new events geared toward the winter months.
The remaining Summer Concert Series schedule includes Ryan Cain and The Ables (July 24), Hair Supply (Aug. 14). and Fleetwood’s Heart (Aug. 28). The Friday concerts kick off with a Mountain State Street Machines Cruise-in at 5 p.m. All of the concerts are free and will begin at 7:30 p.m.
“Our Town remains focused on its broader mission of creating community events that support quality of life in Elkins and the surrounding region,” Dolly said. “Our Town thanks everyone who has supported both organizations over the years and looks forward to continuing to work with community partners in Elkins.”
