Randolph Schools released from State of Emergency

CHARLESTON – The West Virginia Board of Education voted unanimously this morning to release Randolph County Schools from the State of Emergency it has been under for the past year.

The Randolph County Schools system was placed in a State of Emergency for a six-month period by the WVDE in June 2025 because of its inability to balance the 2026 budget. The state then voted to extend the Randolph County school system’s State of Emergency status for another six months in January of this year.

This morning, West Virginia State Superintendent of Schools Michele L. Blatt recommended releasing Randolph County from the State of Emergency. A motion was made and seconded before being approved by the state Board unanimously.

The Inter-Mountain will have a complete story on the state BOE decision later today.
