BELINGTON - A homeless man is behind bars after allegedly attacking another man and then being held at gunpoint until police arrived at the scene.
Robert Earl Knight, 33, has been charged with malicious assault. He is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $50,000 bond.
According to police, the alleged victim was at Hometown Pizza Thursday, where he had been recording a video of a suspected drunk driver. After the alleged victim reported the driver to a police officer, who left to investigate, Knight reportedly approached the alleged victim and threatened to kill him.
Knight then reportedly struck the alleged victim in the face, police said. The alleged victim then reportedly got a firearm from his vehicle and pointed it at Knight, commanding him to get on the ground.
After police arrived on the scene, the alleged victim was transported to Broaddus Hospital for treatment. Police said the alleged victim suffered two facial fractures from the incident. Knight was transported to the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
