MILL CREEK -- Valley Health Care held a grand opening and a ribbon cutting for its new Mill Creek Health Center this week.
Members of the Valley Health Care staff, community members, organization partners, elected officials and “a host of others” came together for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Speaking during the ceremony were Valley Health Care CEO Jordan Godwin; Mill Creek Mayor Gary Coffman; Delegate Jonathan Kyle; Senator Robbie Morris; and Rhett Dusenbury, the area representative for Congressman Riley Moore.
Founding community member Betty Linger also spoke, offering reflections on the history of Valley Health Care. Linger also read a statement on behalf of fellow founding community member Lucille McGee.
After the ceremony, attendees were treated to a reception with food and drink, and facility tours.
The building project will “more than double the size” of the original facility, which was just 8,000 square feet, a Valley Health Care press release states. The new facility, an approximately 15,000-square-foot structure, was built “within a reformed and repurposed commercial building” acquired by Valley Health Care. In total, the campus expansion provides an estimated 23,000 square feet of medical and clinical space.
“For more than 35 years, Valley Health Care has been part of the fabric of Mill Creek and the surrounding communities,” Godwin said in the release. “This expansion is not just about bricks and mortar -- it’s about deepening our roots. It’s about ensuring that everyone in our service area has access to the care they need, when they need it, in a facility that reflects the quality and dignity of that care.”
“This project is made possible by the trust of our patients, the dedication of our staff and the belief that rural health care is vital and worth fighting for,” according to a previous Valley Health Care release. “VHC remains committed to keeping care local, responsive, and rooted in the community values that have defined our mission for decades.”
Valley Health Care, Inc. is a federally qualified health center that provides medical and behavioral health care to patients with insurance, Medicare, and/or Medicaid, and to those without health insurance or who are underinsured through the clinic’s Care Connect Program.
Valley Health Care also has health centers and full-service pharmacies in Mill Creek and Elkins, along with 11 school-based health centers.
