DAVIS -- The deadline to register a team for the 19th annual Run For It charitable race is Aug. 31.
Run For It is a 2K walk and a 5K race hosted by the Tucker Community Foundation. This event invites organizations and non-profits within the Foundation's ten-county service area to participate for cash prizes without any obligations. Currently, 65 teams are registered.
The race will start at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26 in Davis, in conjunction with the annual Leaf Peepers Festival. The 2K is an untimed walk, while the 5K is a timed run/walk open to both walkers and competitive runners.
There is a registration cost, with half of the entry fee supporting a charity of the participant's choice. Individuals and teams can register online at runsignup.com/Race/WV/Davis/RunForIt or by completing the registration forms available on the Foundation's website at tuckerfoundationwv.org/run-for-it.
Team registration ends on Aug. 31, while individual registration closes on Sept. 20. In-person registration will be available at the Davis Fire Hall on Friday, Sept. 25 from 5-7 p.m., and on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 8-9:30 a.m.
This program supports non-profit and charitable organizations in raising funds through entry fees, team sponsorships, and race-day awards. One hundred percent of team sponsor donations and race-day awards will go towards the team's chosen cause, while half of the entry fees will also be donated. The program supports various causes, including the arts, animal welfare, athletes with disabilities, charitable projects, community improvement initiatives, and more.

Over the past 18 years, Run For It has positively impacted the local economy by attracting serious racers and families to the area, thereby supporting local businesses. In 2025, the event drew more than 1,300 walkers and runners, raising over $340,000. These funds benefited 79 non-profit organizations and groups within the 10-county service area and beyond.
