Special Water Board meeting set for Tuesday

By Taylor McKinnie 2 min read

ELKINS -- An open special meeting will take place Tuesday morning to discuss Elkins’ current and possible future water sources.

According to an Elkins City Hall release, the Elkins Water Department and Water Board will be holding a “special meeting” on Tuesday to discuss Elkins’ source water and “potential for new raw water sources in the future.”

The meeting is open to the public and will be held at the Phil Gainer Community Center from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

In a text-exchange comment to The Inter-Mountain, Elkins City Public Water System Chief Operator and Manager Wes Lambert stated that the agenda for the meeting had not been finalized yet.

“As far as I know, there won’t be any significant updates regarding the secondary source,” Lambert said in the text-exchange. “We’re in the initial stages of hiring an engineering firm, and we’ll have more information and direction once that’s done.”

Lambert also noted that the reason this meeting was moved to Aug. 18 was because he and members of the Water Board were attending the West Virginia Rural Water Association Conference in Wheeling from Aug. 9 to Aug. 12.

The Elkins Water Board meets every second Monday of the month at 4 p.m. at the Phil Gainer Community Center.
