BUCKHANNON - The longtime partnership between the Rotary Club of Buckhannon Upshur and WVU Medicine St. Joseph's Hospital will once again offer affordable community blood screenings.
Officials say the screenings provide residents with an easy way to monitor important health indicators.
The screenings will be offered by appointment only at two locations: at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon on Oct. 10, 17, 24 and 31, and Community Care of Rock Cave on Nov. 7.
"Rotary of Buckhannon Upshur is proud to continue our partnership with WVU Medicine St. Joseph's Hospital to provide our community with annual blood screenings," said Deb Harrison, Rotary Club of Buckhannon-Upshur President. "This partnership reflects what Rotary is all about--bringing organizations together to promote health, prevention, and a stronger community."
"By making these screenings available, St. Joseph's and Rotary are helping individuals become
more aware of their health and encouraging early detection and proactive care," Harrison said. "We are grateful
to WVU Medicine St. Joseph's Hospital for their continued partnership and commitment to the health and well-being of our community."
There will be a cost for the basic blood profile screening, which includes several key tests commonly used to assess overall health. Additional optional tests will also be available for an added fee, including thyroid screening (TSH), colon cancer screening, hemoglobin A1C for diabetes, PSA prostate cancer screening for men, Hepatitis C antibody testing, and Vitamin D testing.
Participants are asked to fast for 12 hours prior to their screening. Payment is accepted by cash or personal check, and test results will be available through MyWVUChart or mailed directly to participants' homes.
Appointments are required, and walk-ins will not be accepted.
