Gould inducted into Randolph Hall of Fame

Life-long Randolph County native Stanley Gould was one of the newest members of the Randolph County Hall of Fame.
Gould was inducted into the local Hall of Fame for his role as manager of the 1971 Tygarts Valley High School Bulldogs basketball team. The team went 21-4. The team and coach were inducted into the Hall of Fame during a ceremony at Western Steer on Aug. 29.
Coach Mick Cooper accepted the plaque, which will be displayed at the Western Steer along with the other members of the Hall of Fame.
Gould is one of Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center's beloved family members. He has been residing at the facility for several years.
"We're really proud of Stanley and everything he has done," said Tara Shaver, ERCC administrator. "He's not just a resident here, he's a part of our ERCC family and we are just so happy that he was honored along with his teammates."
"I'm just really happy to be included in this honor along with the other members of the team," Gould said. "It really is an honor."
Gould is an avid fan of sports, especially the Mountaineers and local Randolph County teams.
Shaver said it was no surprise that Gould was involved in sports as a child and that he is involved with many things throughout the facility. He has been a member of the Resident Council at ERCC and is always taking part in the activities at the facility.
Gould noted that sports taught him the importance of hard work at an early age.
"I think being involved in sports is a great way for kids to learn important life skills like teamwork and how to overcome adversity," Gould said. "I know being a member of a team taught me a lot about life."
