Multi-vehicle accident temporarily closes Don Patron

BUCKHANNON -- The Don Patron restaurant was temporarily closed Tuesday after a multi-vehicle accident pushed a car into the building.
On Tuesday afternoon, a vehicle was pushed into the Don Patron on 31 South Florida Street in Buckhannon, witnesses said. The Sweet A Licious ice cream shop, which neighbors Don Patron on Madison Avenue, put out a social media post at 1:52 p.m. Tuesday, detailing their eye-witness account of what happened.
According to the post, a truck lost control “at a decent rate of speed” and went over the curb into the shared parking lot of the two businesses. The truck then hit “a couple cars” in the parking lot, pushing one car into the Mexican restaurant.
“…the driver of the truck was taken to the hospital, everyone else was okay,” the social media post from Sweet A Licious states. “I was about 15 seconds from leaving the shop and walking over to our house on the corner, thank god, the guy I was waiting on at the shop was running late or it could have been a very different story. Don Patron is closed, please pray for the young man driving the truck and thank God no one else was hurt [sic].”
A photo of the incident shows the damaged vehicle pressed against the side of the building. The building itself seemed to sustain a broken window that looks into the kitchen area of the restaurant.
At 1:55 p.m. on Tuesday, Don Patron put out a social media post announcing that they would be closed for the rest of the day “due to an accident we had.” The post stated that the restaurant would be open again on Wednesday. The Inter-Mountain called Don Patron after their opening hours on Wednesday and confirmed the restaurant had re-opened for business.
