Police respond to report of man with gun

Officers with the Elkins City Police, Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and the West Virginia State Police responded to reports of a male individual with a handgun outside of a daycare center on Kennedy Street in Elkins about 12:45 p.m. Thursday. About 10 law enforcement vehicles converged on the area near the Division of Highways District 8 Equipment Shop. According to police scanner traffic, the subject was reportedly found and detained, but police continued to scan the area searching for the reported firearm.
