Randolph County 4-H offering fall full of activities

BEVERLY – Randolph County 4-H is kicking off the fall season with many opportunities for youth, families and community members to get involved.
The Randolph County 4-H Teen Leaders are once again helping Elkins get ready for the Mountain State Forest Festival by painting colorful leaves on the sidewalks in front of local businesses. The cost for painting the leaves is $20 each, with proceeds supporting Teen Leader activities. Businesses are encouraged to call the WVU Extension Office at 304-636-2455 to order a leaf.
Community members are also invited to help shape the future of Camp Pioneer. Plans are being considered for a new dormitory that could support camps, retreats, educational programs, reunions, and other events.

Enrollment for the new 2026-27 4-H year opens on Oct. 1. Families interested in learning more about 4-H should save the date for a 4-H Fall Recruitment Event on Tuesday, Oct, 6 at 5:30 at Camp Pioneer.
During the event, new and returning families can meet local clubs and leaders and discover the many opportunities available through Randolph County 4-H.
Other upcoming events include the the Heels Down 4-H Club Fall Horse Show on Sept. 27.
Officials send out congratulations to all 4-H members who participated in the Randolph County Fair, including youth livestock exhibitors, horse show participants, and members whose projects advanced to the State Fair of West Virginia.
Officials also extend a "huge thank you" to the businesses, organizations, volunteers, families and community members who supported this year's Randolph County Youth Livestock Show and Sale.
4-H is one of the largest youth development programs in the United States, involving more than 6.5 million young people and 540,000 youth and adult volunteers. The focus is on helping youth learn leadership, citizenship, and life skills by participating in projects and service.
Membership is open to any youth who is at least 9 years of age and not older than 21 within the current 4-H year, which runs from Oct. 1 - Sept. 30. The Cloverbud program is open to youths ages 5-7 years of age.
4-H offers community clubs, specialty clubs, cloverbud clubs, county camps, club outings, Achievement Banquet, and more, In 4-H, youth socialize, lear, and develop life skills in a safe, educational atmosphere, officials said.
