VALLEY HEAD - A Randolph County man is accused of pointing a gun at a woman during a domestic incident.
Randall Gail Wood, 65, of Valley Head, is charged with being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, a felony. He is being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond, set by Randolph County Magistrate Ben Shepler.
According to the criminal complaint, prepared by Trooper Andrew C. Jordan of the Elkins Detachment of the West Virginia State Police, on Monday at approximately 7 p.m., officers responded to the Valley Head area "in reference to a possible domestic involving destruction of property."
Before arriving on the scene, officers were told that the alleged victim said Wood had pointed a gun at her, the complaint states. A criminal history check on Wood showed that he has had a felony drug conviction for possession with the intent to deliver methamphetamine in 2019.
Upon arrival, Jordan asked Wood if he was in possession of a firearm, with Wood saying he was not, according to the complaint. Jordan then asked if Wood had a firearm in his vehicle, with Wood saying he did not.
Jordan obtained verbal consent from Wood to search his vehicle, the complaint states. During the search, officers found a revolver under the driver’s seat. The gun was identified as a Taurus .44 magnum.
The alleged victim told officers that Wood had pushed her down, causing a bruise on her thigh and redness on her arm, according to the complaint. She also said Wood had pried the lock off her shed and "used his fist to bust open a window on the front of her residence." Officers observed a small blood stain on that window.
Jordan asked Wood if he broke the window and he said he did not; however, he then "stated the reason was to help (the alleged victim) enter her home, due to the front door not having a knob," the complaint states. Jordan wrote that he observed a cut on a knuckle of Woods’ left hand.
