WVWC prepares for Homecoming 2026

BUCKHANNON - West Virginia Wesleyan College (WVWC) will welcome alumni and friends back to their Home Among the Hills for Homecoming weekend, Oct. 9-11, 2026.
Homecoming brings together alumni and friends from across generations, with members of the Wesleyan community returning to campus from near and far. Throughout the weekend, attendees will have opportunities to reconnect with old friends, make new memories, and take part in the traditions that make Wesleyan unique.
Homecoming activities begin on Friday, Oct. 9. Alumni and guests can stop by the Rockefeller Center lobby beginning at 11 a.m. to pick up name tags, schedules, campus maps, and other materials. Official Homecoming name tags can be used for a discount on WVWC gear at the Bobcat Den and complimentary admission to Saturday's football game.
The Erickson Alumni Center will host an open house at 55 Meade St. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Alumni and friends are welcome to come in and visit with staff or join campus tours departing at 2 and 3 p.m.
The class of 1976 will gather at 2 p.m. in the French A. See Dining Center for its 50th Reunion Reception. Classmates will have a chance to reconnect, share memories, and celebrate a milestone year together.
Founders Day Convocation will begin at 4 p.m. in Wesley Chapel, featuring the induction of new members of the Board of Trustees, recognition of the 2026 Alumni Award recipients, and an address by Dr. James Moore, president of the college. Afterward, attendees are invited to continue the celebration at the All Alumni Reunion at the Event Center at Brushy Fork. This event will honor the classes of 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006, and 2011, with music, photo opportunities, children's activities, and more.
Saturday, Oct. 10, will offer a full slate of events across campus. Professor Emeritus Dr. Robert Rupp will present a lecture on his newly published book, The Primary That Made A President: John F. Kennedy and West Virginia, at 10 a.m. at Culpepper Auditorium in the Virginia Thomas Law Center for Performing Arts. Also beginning at 10 a.m., Holloway Hall's Sorority Suites will host Sorority Alumnae Tea. From 1-2 p.m., the Annie Merner Pfeiffer Library will hold the Faculty Meet & Greet, where alumni can visit with familiar professors, as well as the Lil Cats Experience, with children's activities led by Education Department students. Fraternity open houses will follow from 2:30-4 p.m., giving brothers a chance to catch up and meet current members.
A centerpiece of Saturday's Homecoming program will be the Bobcats' 4 p.m. football game against Fairmont State University at Cebe Ross Field. Fans can cheer on the home team and enjoy halftime performances by the Bobcat Marching Band and WVWC Dance Team, along with the crowning of 2026 Homecoming royalty.
Saturday evening will include an Honors Program Reunion dinner from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Event Center at Brushy Fork, with past and present Honors Program directors in attendance. Guests can wind down the day with a planetarium show at 8 p.m. in the Christopher Hall of Science Planetarium or test their knowledge at Trivia Night at 8:30 p.m. in the Social Hall of the Benedum Campus Center.
Gather at Wesley Chapel the next morning, Sunday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m. for the Homecoming Chapel Service, a joyous celebration of faith and community. Rev. Jake Steele '05, senior pastor of Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church in Hurricane, West Virginia, will return to his alma mater as guest preacher for this longstanding Wesleyan tradition. Then head to Culpepper Stadium for Bobcat soccer, with the women's team taking on West Liberty University at 1 p.m., followed by the men's match at 3:30 p.m.
Throughout Homecoming weekend, the Annie Merner Pfeiffer Library will feature a special exhibition, Wesleyan Sweethearts. Stop by to see photographs and accounts that spotlight a few of the many love stories that began on Wesleyan's campus.
Whether returning for a milestone reunion, cheering on the Bobcats, revisiting a favorite spot on campus, or just spending time with old friends, alumni are invited to come home and be part of a weekend celebrating the traditions that endure across generations at Wesleyan.
