ELKINS – Maid Silvia and part of her royal court were celebrated during the Mountain State Forest Festival’s annual Maid Silvia’s Luncheon.

Maid Silvia LXXXVIII Emma Grace Snyder and her royal minor court were joined by friends, family, Mountain State Forest Festival officials and local leaders for the annual event on Tuesday. Snyder was accompanied by Maids of Honor Kendall Rayann Corley and Grace Elizabeth Parsons.

The luncheon took place at Graceland on the campus of Davis & Elkins College, and guests were treated to a meal catered by Henry's at Graceland Inn. The event itself is sponsored by Joyce Allen, a retired educator, civic leader and dedicated philanthropist.

In his opening remarks before the luncheon began, 88th Mountain State Forest Festival Executive Director Nathaniel Bonnell said he hoped Festival Week creates many memories for Snyder and her court that they will treasure for years to come.

“As we start off the week and we kick off Festival Week, and we get underway, I encourage you take it all in,” Bonnell said. “The sights, the sounds, the smells of the Forest Festival. Enjoy the fall colors, the pageantry, the music, the excitement and, of course, the great Festival and carnival food.

“Most of all, take time to enjoy the people who make this festival so special. Visit old friends, make new memories and enjoy everything the week has to offer.”

A special thank you was also given to Allen, who Bonnell called a “true patron and friend of the Forest Festival.”
