Cathy DeBarr, Iris Perry and Iris Mae Swecker hosted the September meeting of the Teter CEOS as they met on Sept. 17 in the Tennerton UMC Fellowship Hall.

Lowell Wayts offered prayer over the noon meal. Enjoying birthdays this month are Lowell Wayts, Barbara Hinkle and Cathy DeBarr.

President Debbie Hinkle opened the meeting with Janet Smith leading the group in saying the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. Iris Perry read "A Friend for All Seasons." "Things to Be Thankful For" was read by Lowell Wayts. Both readings contained sensible messages to retain.

The club had a good turnout for celebrating Upshur County CEOS Week. A taco salad, trash 'n treasures and bake sale were held at the Upshur County Courthouse on Sept. 11.

Upcoming events were discussed. Breast Cancer Awareness is planned for Oct. 12 at the Brushy Fork Events Center. Also, plans were discussed for a Christmas luncheon.

Cathy DeBarr entertained the group with the lesson on "The Art of Pastry Pie: A Heritage Tradition." Cathy revealed her college instruction in making pie crusts, stating that she was a cake baker rather than a pie maker. It was interesting to learn the background for pies which is credited to the Egyptians.
