HAMBLETON -- A Tucker County High School teacher has been arrested and charged with two felonies after allegedly having an “inappropriate relationship” with a student.
Haden Michael Wamsley, 22, is charged with one count of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian; and one count of sexual intercourse, sexual intrusion or sexual contact against a student by a school employee, both felonies. Wamsley was being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $10,000 property/surety bond that has since been posted.
According to the criminal complaint, filed by Trooper G.P. Hahn with the West Virginia State Police Parsons Detachment, on Sept. 4, Hahn received an email from Superintendent of Tucker County Schools Alicia Lambert which advised that she had received an anonymous phone call regarding Wamsley.
The anonymous caller reportedly stated that Wamsley was in an “inappropriate relationship” with a Tucker County High School student, the complaint states. Police were advised that Wamsley and the alleged victim had denied the allegations of being in a relationship, stating that the only physical contact they’d had was a “hug.” Hahn was also advised that a CPS Referral had been placed on Sept. 3.
The email from Lambert to police continued, stating the principal at Tucker County High School, Alex Cork, had advised that the alleged victim had come into the office to speak to the school counselor, the complaint states. While there, the alleged victim reportedly admitted that she and Wamsley had “made out” a couple of times, with the most recent time being on Aug. 28. The alleged victim also reportedly expressed her displeasure, due to the fact that Wamsley had “blocked her” on Sept. 3. Police were advised that the counselor had also made a CPS referral.
In the complaint, Hahn writes that he attempted to contact several of the parties involved in this incident to no avail.
