BUCKHANNON -- An Upshur County man faces felony charges after allegedly making threats against police in an online comment about Flock cameras.

Justin Drew Sayre, 37, of Buckhannon, is charged with one count of threats of terrorist acts and one count of making threats of a crime of violence, both felonies. He is currently being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $35,000 cash-only bond.

According to the criminal complaint, filed by Sergeant Tyler A. Gordon with the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office, on July 14, Sayre allegedly responded in the comment section of a Facebook post discussing Flock cameras in Buckhannon, in which Sayre is “a known resident.”

In one of the comments, Sayre allegedly states “destroy them, these cops around here are nothing but terrorists who are mules for the free masons up there at lodge 7. they need taken out too [sic],” the complaint states.

Gordon writes that this language is “retaliatory in nature” against the law enforcement in this community and threatens the killing of law enforcement. Reportedly, Sayre’s Facebook profile is “full of” anti-law enforcement rhetoric and language.

“…although not illegal on it’s face, combined with the above threat, (the profile) causes public alarm and substantial alarm to law enforcement in this community,” Gordon writes in the complaint.

A preliminary hearing for Sayre has been scheduled for today in Upshur County Magistrate Court.
