BUCKHANNON - A domestic dispute situation led to a felony charge against an Upshur County man.

Earl Warden Perrine, 61, was charged with strangulation, a felony. He was being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail, but has since made bond and been released.

According to the criminal complaint, prepared by Sgt. Darin K. Hissam, of the Buckhannon Police Department, on Oct. 26, Perrine allegedly strangled a woman "without her consent."

"During an argument between the two, the defendant did place his hand around the throat of the victim, and pressed her backwards up against the sink and cabinets," the complaint states.

"The victim had visible red marks upon her throat and advised that she could not breathe and was in pain while the defendant had his hand pressed around his throat," according to the complaint.

If found guilty of felony strangulation, Perrine could be sentenced to from two to 10 years in prison.
