Upshur County Disaster Recovery Center closed today

BUCKHANNON — The Upshur County Disaster Recovery Center (DRC), located at 21 E. Main Street, will close for the remainder of today due to inclement weather, officials said. At this time, the DRC is expected to reopen Wednesday under its regular operating hours (7 a.m. to 6 p.m.). Officials will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates if anything changes.

Substantial Damage Determinations to begin in Upshur

BUCKHANNON — Officials announced Monday afternoon that Substantial Damage Determinations will begin this week in Upshur County for homes and businesses affected by the severe flooding of July 21. “Local officials previously conducted Preliminary Damage Assessments (PDAs) to estimate the overall extent and impact of storm‑related damages,” a joint release from the City of Buckhannon and Upshur County stated. “PDAs are separate from the Substantial Damage Determination process.
