William “Bill” Howard O’Dell, 78, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, at home.
Bill was born Friday, July 23, 1937, in Elkins, a son of the late Harold O’Dell and Minnie Sarah Collett O’Dell.
Bill lived with his loving companion of 38 years, Rose Martin, who survives in Elkins.
Also left to cherish his memory are 12 children, Edward O’Dell and wife, Elva, of Arizonia, Jeff O’Dell and wife, Bonnie, of South Carolina, Timmy O’Dell and wife, Cindy, of Arizonia, Marner O’Dell of Elkins, Billy Jo O’Dell of Colorado, Robert Embeck of Elkins, Mickey Martin of Mill Creek, Melissa Thomas and husband, Seth, of Elkins, Tynk Brown of Elkins, Sis Sharp and husband, Lee, of Belington, Susie Fortney of Beverly and April Channell and husband, Robert, of Elkins; three siblings, Joanne Coffman, Laura Moats and James “Ed” O’Dell; 30 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and special daughter-in-law, Barbara O’Dell.
Preceding Bill in death, besides his parents, were three children, James, Donald and Michael O’Dell; one granddaughter, Stephanie Ball; one great-grandson, Wyatt Worles; and one sister, Wilda Sutherland.
Bill attended the schools of Randolph County and had been employed for many years at Kelly Foundry in Elkins.
Bill enjoyed fixing clocks and in his younger years, working on cars. He was an avid football fan.
A visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Thursday, Dec. 3, from 3-5 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Julie Dean will officiate. The family’s request for cremation will then be honored.
