Sylvia “Darlene” Harper Felton, 61, a resident of Mill Creek, passed from this life at 1:30 pm on Thursday, Dece. 20, 2018, at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio surrounded by loved ones.
Darlene was born Saturday, July 6, 1957, in Elkins, a daughter of Howard Hampton Harper and Evelyn “Sis” Defibaugh Harper, who survive in Beverly.
She married to Steven “Steve” Michael Felton, who survives.
Also left to cherish her memory is her beloved son, Scott Murphy Felton of Dailey; two grandchildren, Adley Taylor Felton and Zebulun “Zeb” Harper Felton, both of Dailey; four siblings, Chuck Harper, Methilda Shifflett and husband, Don, Greg Harper and wife, Barbara, David Harper and wife, Macel; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her grandparents, Dexter and Gertrude Defibaugh and Silvia and Carney Harper.
Darlene was a 1975 graduate of Elkins High School and then obtained an associate’s degree from Wesleyan College.
For 35 years, she was the owner and operator of Felton’s Tax Service.
Darlene was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Niece, Cousin and Friend.
She was a second Mother and Grandmother to any child that came in contact with her child or grandchildren. She spent her life in service of her family, friends, and community. Darlene made a life of always putting others before herself.
She had been a member of the Tygarts Valley Athletic Boosters, Randolph County Board of Education, Tygart Valley Fairs and Festivals, and the United Methodist Women. She was an avid supporter of Tyrand Ministries and her community.
Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral home on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home chapel on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018, at 11 a.m. Pastor Gary Coffman will officiate and interment will follow in Harper Family Cemetery in Harman.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Darlene’s name to Tyrand Co-Op Ministries, P.O. Box 365 Mill Creek, WV 26280 or Mill Creek United Methodist Church.
