James Philmore Sacks, 84, a resident of Elkins, departed this life Thursday, July 16, 2020, at the Colonial Place at Elkins , surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Monday, Dec. 2, 1935, at Valley Bend, a son of the late Philmore Franklin and Ethel Mae Glover Sacks.

On Aug. 19, 1961, he was married to the former Patsy Ellen Burner, who survives. They had celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Also surviving are two sons, Kevin Dales Sacks and companion Robin Wamsley of Dailey and Bradley James Sacks and companion Shell Weese of Mill Creek; one brother, Bruce Sacks of Dailey; one sister, Rose Bonsal of Maryland; one grandson, Justin William Sacks of Glady; and one great grandson, Lane.

Preceding him in death are five brothers, John, Roger, David, Neal and Robert Sacks ; and two sisters, Emily, and Phyllis.

He attended the schools of Randolph County, had served for 10 years in the reserves and drove supply truck for the West Virginia Department of Highways, working for 47 years. He was a member of the Randolph County Senior Center, had previously attended and was a member of the Harts Chapel Church. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping, mowing and tinkering.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home Tuesday, July 21, at 1 p.m. Pastor David B. Rittenhouse will officiate and interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville. The family would like to thank the Colonial Place for their special care. As we continue to follow the CDC guidelines and the recent mandate by Gov. Jim Justice, social distancing as well as masks will be required for those in attendance.
