SHARP
Ronald Ray Sharp, 70, a resident of the Norton Road, Elkins, West Virginia, departed this life Thursday morning, May 27, 2021, at the Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center at Elkins, West Virginia, with his loving wife by his side and under the care of West Virginia Caring.
He was born Wednesday, Oct. 11, 1950, at Pumpkintown, West Virginia, a son of the late Cecil Raymond and Celia Ann Wood Sharp.
On Jan. 2, 1982, at Saint Brendan Catholic Church, he was married to the former Brenda K. Hodges, who survives. They had celebrated 39 years of marriage.
Also surviving are his God Child, Sydney Joy Hodges; eight brothers, Cecil A. Sharp and (Ruth), Ralph E. Sharp, Randall A. Sharp, Eddie L. Sharp and (Carol), Delbert B. Sharp and (Crystal), Danny R. Sharp and (Susan), Dennis L. Sharp and Kenny H. Sharp; three sisters, Shirley Mae Morgan and (Herb), Linda and (Danny) and Wanda Faye Vest and (J.R.); and several nieces and nephews.
He was a graduate of Coalton High School with the class of 1969, had worked as a coal miner and retired from White Tail Coal Company. He later worked as an attendant at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home for several years. He was a member of Saint Brendan Catholic Church.
Ron enjoyed traveling, concerts, fairs and loved animals. He never met a stranger and enjoyed meeting up with his group of friends for breakfast at Hardee's. He will be remembered for his generosity, sense of humor and his smile. He loved life and especially his family.
The family would like to give a special thanks to WVU Medicine, Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center, Randolph County EMS, Davis Medical Center, and all his friends and family.
Mr. Sharp's request for cremation was honored. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the Saint Brendan Cemetery at Elkins, West Virginia.
The Rev. Father Jim O'Connor will be the Presider and interment will follow.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to Saint Brendan Catholic Church Building Fund, 181 Saint Brendan Way, Elkins, WV 26241, the American Cancer Society, 122 South High Street, Morgantown, WV 26501, or Catholic Charities WV, 1513 Harrison Avenue, Suite C-10, Elkins, WV 26241.
