David Allan Comer, 54, of Christiansburg, Virginia, passed away on Nov. 10, 2021.
He was born Jan. 15, 1967 in Elkins, West Virginia, a son of the late Carl Gordon Comer and Joan Comer, who resides in Elkins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Carder; father-in-law, James Tackett; and special friend, Walter Simpkins.
David is survived by his wife, Amy Comer; sons, Zach Comer and Jacob Comer; daughter, Taylor Matlick; and siblings, Ron Carder, Ricky Carder, Kenny Comer, Tom Comer and Carolyn Phares.
He will also be missed by his special nephew, Trevor Comer. There was also fondness in his heart for his family at Moog and "The Tribe" in Elkins, people among whom David found genuine friendship.
David was a devoted husband and father -- his family was his life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending many hours walking through the Appalachian Mountains he loved.
When not in the woods, David still enjoyed the outdoors playing and coaching various sports. Alongside his brother, Tom, and cousin, Mark Rosencrance, he was a member of the inaugural Elkins High School soccer team. David also served in the Army National Guard.
The family is hosting a memorial celebration of David's life on Friday, Nov. 26 from noon to 3 p.m. at Camp Pioneer near Beverly.
