MARTIN
Mr. Frank Martin, 99, a life-long resident of the Dartmoor Community near Belington, departed this life early Saturday morning, Feb. 5, 2022, in the Davis Medical Center at Elkins. Death was following a short period of declining health.
Frank was born Oct. 19, 1922, at Dartmoor, West Virginia, a son of the late Joseph and Annie D’Andrea Martin.
He is survived by one sister, Virginia Martin Blevins of Willoughby, Ohio; one grandson, Franklin “Frankie” Martin of Randolph County; great- grandson, Anthony Martin of New York; and caregiver, Jean Beveridge of Dartmoor.
Additional survivors include, one stepson, Dr. William Downer of Buckhannon; several nieces, nephews, extended family and a whole host of friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph Allen Martin and Charles “Chuckie” Martin; two sisters, Albena Vnenchak and Mary Martin Booth; former wife, Grace Howard Martin; and a loving companion of many years, Kathleen Rose Findley.
Mr. Martin was a graduate of the Belington High School with the Class of 1941. He served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII and was a long-time member of the Belington Masonic Lodge 125 AF & AM. He thoroughly enjoyed ramp digging and was an avid fisherman. He was a former member of the Laurel Mt. Post 410 VFW and was a longtime Iron Worker belonging to the Union Local 549. He was a Protestant by faith. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends will be received from the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg St. in Belington, on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and again on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel. The Eulogy will be given at 11 a.m. by Michael Talbott. Interment will follow in the Fraternal Cemetery near Belington, where full military rites and the Belington Masonic lodge 125 AF & AM will conduct ritualistic services.
