Wilma Jean McDonald Hawkins
HAWKINS
Mrs. Wilma Jean McDonald Hawkins, 92, a resident of Junior, departed this life Sunday evening Jan. 22, 2023, at her home. Although she had been declining in health, death was unexpected.
She was born on Jan. 3, 1931, in Junior, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Gordon Allison and Cloie Belle Daniels McDonald.
On Dec. 23, 1950, she was united in marriage to James Clay “Skinny” Hawkins, who preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 2000.
She is survived by three children, Allan Hawkins and companion, Jo Ellen Skidmore, of Junior, Rickie Lynn Hawkins and companion, Pearl Dye, of Beach Bottom, West Virginia, and Kelly Hawkins and companion, John Marshall Mosesso, of Philippi; and two sisters, Jerrine Brady of Junior and Lola Bussey of Parkersburg.
Additional survivors include four grandchildren, Cloie Mosesso, Anthony Mosesso, Gregory Hawkins and Lori Corley; two great-grandchildren, Lauren Nicholson and Cierra Williams; and four great-great-grandchildren, Kacen Lackey, Allison Lackey, Spencer Nicholson and Veronica Williams.
Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bradley McDonald and Paul McDonald; six sisters, Helen Sturm, Leotta Gay Thorne, Dorothy Channell, Betty Fitzwater, Luretta Winkler and Dixie Pride; and one infant sibling.
Jean attended the schools of Barbour County and was a homemaker and caregiver. She formerly belonged to Pythian sisters and also formerly attended the Bethel United Methodist Church in Junior. She loved to spend time with her family and was an avid Bingo player.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington, on Saturday Jan. 28, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the funeral hour, where final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Johnny Paul Williams II officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mt. View K of P Cemetery near Junior.
