Donald Lee ‘Don’ Hinchman

HINCHMAN

Mr. Donald Lee “Don” Hinchman, 81, a resident of Beverly, passed away Saturday evening, Feb. 4, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family and under the care of Mountain Hospice.

He was born March 16, 1941, in Elkins, a son of the late Oney Stark Hinchman and the late Margaret Marie Gardner Hinchman.

He was formerly married to the late Roselind Raines.

On Aug. 17, 2002, he was married to Betty jean Swecker Hinchman, who survives at Beverly.

Also surviving are two sons, Donald Ray Hinchman and wife, Kathy, of Belford, New Jersey, and Rodney Lynn Hinchman of Greenville, North Carolina; three step-daughters, Julie A. Matthews and husband, Randy, Morehead City, North Carolina, Brenda J. Miller and husband, Mike, and Jennifer L. McLaughlin and husband, Dennis, all of Elkins; three brothers, Robert Lynn Hinchman and wife, Betty, Elkins, Richard Ray Hinchman and wife, Nellie, Gallipolis, Ohio, Jack Wayne Hinchman and companion, Arlene, of Elkins; two sisters, Betty Ruth Austin and husband, Donald, Front Royal, Virginia, and Debbie Darlene Harris and husband, Kenny, of Elkins; and six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, five step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Also preceding him in death was one daughter, Tammy Karlene Hinchman; one brother, Ernest Oney “Bud” Hinchman; and two sisters, Shirley Jean Woodell and Dortha Mae Summerfield.

Mr. Hinchman was a graduate of Elkins High School. He was employed as an electrician, having retired from the machine shop at Kelly Foundry. Don was a very talented woodworker, an excellent electrician and seem like there was nothing he couldn’t fix that was broken. He had a gift of creativity and enjoyed helping make repairs at the church he attended, the Gospel Light Tabernacle.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until noon, Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor A.H. Belt and Pastor Harold Swecker officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions are made to Mountain Hospice, 1002 S. Crim Avenue, Belington, WV 26250.
