WENDLING
Fred W. Wendling, 86, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, at his home.
He was born Jan. 28, 1937, in Charleston, West Virginia, a son of the late Albert Franklin and Hattamena Norman Wendling.
On Jan. 5, 1976, he married Karen Johnston, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Steven B. Wendling and wife Deneen of Tennessee, Albert F. Wendling and Christopher A Wendling and wife, Charity, all of Buckhannon; one daughter, Sheila Sullivan and husband, Boddy, of Tennessee; four grandsons, Matthew Krysz of New Jersey, Steven and William Wendling, both of Tennessee, and Colton Wendling of Buckhannon; four granddaughters, Bridjet Krysz of Tennessee and Caitlyn, Christina and Charlee Wendling, all of Buckhannon; two great-grandsons, Wesley and Cooper Krysz, both of Tennessee; two brothers, John Wendling and wife, Linda, and Herbert Wendling, all of Charleston; one sister, Margie West of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Fred William Wendling Jr.; and three sisters, Mae Young, Gay Thrush and Mary Hill.
Mr. Wendling served in the U.S. Air Force. He was the 2nd Generation owner of A.F. Wendling’s Food Service for over 40 years and a member of the South Buckhannon Mission Church.
Friends will be received Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the South Buckhannon Mission Church.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, from the church, with Pastor Ed Lowther officiating.
Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
