Lola Pearle Martin Vanscoy

Lola Pearle Martin Vanscoy, 91, a former resident of Elkins, West Virginia, and Kernersville, North Carolina, and more recently a resident of Marlinton, West Virginia, departed this life Thursday evening, Feb. 9, 2023, at the Pocahontas Center at Marlinton, West Virginia, with her daughter by her side.
She was born Thursday, Dec. 3, 1931, at Parsons, West Virginia, a son of the late Ottis Otha and Sopha Pearle Isner Martin.
On Dec. 23, 1948, she was married to Chester Dorman Vanscoy, who preceded her in death June 5, 2009. They had celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Surviving are one daughter, Barbara A. Vanscoy Circosta and husband, Donald, of Marlinton; two sons, Randall K. Vanscoy and wife, Kelli, of Kernersville, North Carolina, Jeffrey C. Vanscoy and wife, Carrie, of West Virginia; one sister, Violet Faye Bennett and husband, Denver, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; six grandchildren, Travis, Angela, Brandon, Matthew, Joshua and Shannon; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death are two daughters, Dena and Karen Vanscoy; two brothers, Ottis “June” Otha Martin Jr. and James “Jimmy” Meredith Martin; and one sister, Lucille Grace Martin Kerns.
She attended the schools of Tucker and Randolph counties, had worked for the G.C. Murphy Company, the W.V. Division of Unemployment for 12 years, at a pharmacy in Marlinton for several years and as a homemaker. She was a member of the Faith Assembly Church at Kernersville, North Carolina. She enjoyed spending time with her family, painting and fellowship.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday.
Final Rites will be conducted from the funeral home, Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Kevin Gainer will officiate and interment will follow at the Israel Cemetery at Kerens, West Virginia.
