Mr. Robert Cookman "Bob" Kelly, 79, a resident of Belington, departed this life Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at his home. Death was following a brief illness.
He was born April 24, 1943, at Marlinton, West Virginia, a son of the late Alley and Bessie Ryder Kelly, and foster parents, the late Harry and Mary Wanless.
On Sept. 26, 1963, he was united in marriage to the former Sherry DeHaven, who survives at their home in Belington.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Robert Kelly and wife, Lisa, of Belington; two daughters, Brenda Croswell and husband, Charlie, of Richmond, Virginia, and Debbie Alexander and husband, Stuart, of Nestorville.
Grandchildren surviving are Bobby Kelly and companion, Haley, of Belington, Celeste Kelly and companion, Adrian, of Philippi, Parker Kelly and Coryn Kelly of Belington, Mark Varner and Rebecca Varner (addresses unknown), Justin Alexander and wife, Kierston, of Nestorville, and Josh Alexander and companion, Arin, of Nestorville.
Great-grandchildren surviving are Bella Varner, Leann Varner, Layla Varner, Jessie Varner, Kayden Varner, Jacob Wolfe and Carson Alexander, two great-granddaughters that will be born in the near future, a bonus great-granddaughter, Averlee; and one sister, Arlene Kelly.
Bob was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Cosner; four brothers, Ray, Corky, Garnett and James Kelly; and two sisters, Mary Jane and Faye.
Bob was an honorary member of the Belington Volunteer Fire Department. He loved to fish and was excellent at making fishing flies. He loved to play music with his friends and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends will be received from the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington, on Wednesday March 1, 2023, from 7-9 p.m. and again on Thursday, March 2, 2023, from 8 to 11 a.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmie E. Tallman officiating.
Interment will then follow in the Fraternal Cemetery near Belington.
