Mrs. Yvonne Marie Hunter Jackson, 83, a resident of Junior and more recently of the Good Samaritan Society of Barbour County, departed this life Monday morning, Feb. 13, 2023, in the care facility. Death was following a period of declining health.
She was born on Oct. 27, 1939, in Renovo, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Alvin George and Lucille Valeria Hunter.
On Dec. 11, 1957, at Buffalo, New York, she was united in marriage to Harry William Jackson Sr., who preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 2016.
She is survived by one son, Floyd T. Jackson Sr. and wife, Cathy, of Norfolk, Virginia; two brothers, Robert Hunter and wife, Angela, of Pedericktown, New Jersey, and Alvin Hunter of Renovo, Pennsylvania.
Additional survivors include grandchildren, Mathew Jackson, Jamey Jackson, Jamie Jackson, Floyd Jackson Jr. and Brandon Jackson; and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Harry Jackson Jr. and Jeffrey E. Jackson; and siblings, George Hunter, Ronald Hunter, Sylvia Walizer and Jessica Cannon.
Yvonne was a graduate of the Renovo High School and was a homemaker. She loved the outdoors, including camping and hunting, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Per Yvonne’s request, cremation will be honored. Interment of her cremains will be in the West Virginia National Cemetery near Grafton at a later date.
