Evelyn Charolene Moats Warner, 72, a former resident of Beverly, West Virginia, and more recently a resident of Buckhannon, West Virginia, departed this life Tuesday evening, Feb. 28, 2023, at her home. Death was unexpected.
She was born Wednesday, March 22, 1950, at Marlinton, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Paul Mac and Helen Kathleen Vandevander Moats.
She was married to Harlan Ray Warner of Beverly, who survives. They had celebrated 54 years of marriage.
Also surviving is one son, Harlan Wayne Warner of Beverly; two daughters, Shirley Marie Warner and fiance, Henry Williams Sr., of Buckhannon, Wanda Jean Fultz and husband, Jehu "Mike" Sr. of Terra Alta; one brother, Gary Moats and wife, Betty, of Beverly; two sisters, Paula Wood of Durbin and Gloria Tingler and husband, Roger of Circleville; five grandchildren; six step- grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She attended the schools of Pocahontas County and Elkins High School. She had worked for Bata Shoe, Colonial Mill Works and for West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources taking care of six children. She later worked for ResCare for fifteen years, retiring in 2015. She babysat many of the neighborhood children and was known to be the neighborhood Mom. She enjoyed going to yard sales and collecting trinkets of all sorts as well as enjoying sewing, arts and crafts, the beach and family was very important to her. She had a green thumb and attended the Brethren Church.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Terry Cannon will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, West Virginia.
