Hobert Henry Corley Jr.

Mr. Hobert Henry Corley Jr., 72, a resident of Elkins, passed away Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at his home under the care of West Virginia Caring Hospice.

He was born March 3, 1950, in Elkins, a son of the late Hobert Henry Corley and the late Teresa Ann Falcone Corley.

On June 7, 1975, at Petersburg, West Virginia, he was married to Verna Jane Stump Corley, who survives in Elkins.

Also surviving are two sons, Burr Angelo Corley and wife, I-Chen Liu, of Lynwood, Washington, and George Alston Corley and wife, Li Wang Corley, of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; as well as two daughters, Teresa Mae-Rose Goddard and husband, Anthony Scott Goddard, of Morgantown, West Virginia, and Laura Marie Kennedy and husband, Edward Ryan Kennedy, of Clarksburg, West Virginia.

Eleven grandchildren also survive.

Also preceding him in death was one granddaughter, Laurya Elizabeth Kennedy.

Hobert graduated from Petersburg High School in Grant County and held Master's Degrees in Math and Computer Science. Hobert served as a teacher and coach of football and track at Madison County High School in Madison, Virginia, and was employed by Singer-Link in Cheverly, Maryland, Vitro in Rockville, Maryland, and Computer Sciences/Technicolor Associates in Rockville, Maryland.

He later returned to Elkins, where he was employed by the Randolph County Schools at Coalton and Forest Hills High School, Davis & Elkins College and West Virginia Wesleyan College prior to his retirement.

He was a member of the Lions Club of Elkins, having received the Leonard Jarrett Award and the Melvin James Fellowship. He participated in two summer fellowships at Los Alamos, New Mexicon, and Wright-Patterson at Dayton, Ohio. Hobert was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Elkins.

Hobert's request for cremation has been honored.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
