Josephine ‘Jo’ Georgia Shiflett Taylor

Josephine “Jo” Georgia Shiflett Taylor, 89, a life-long resident of Mill Creek, passed from this life Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center and under the care of Mountain Hospice.
Jo was born Thursday, Feb. 22, 1934, in Mill Creek, a daughter of the late Estal Shiflett and Edna Scott Shiflett Tenney.
She was married to Howard Taylor, who preceded her in death in 1987.
Left to cherish her memory are six children, Dottie Parrack, Betty Wood, Randy Taylor, Patty Arbogast and husband, Dave, Phil Taylor and wife, Christina, and Steve Taylor and wife, Laura; one niece, Mary Lou Currence, whom Jo raised as a daughter; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 47 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Samuel “Junior” Tenney.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband was one infant daughter, Rhonda; four sons, Charles, Jeff, David and Jimmy Taylor; one brother, Roy Wamsley; and one infant sister, Goldie Shiflett.
Jo attended the schools of Randolph County. She had been employed as an elementary school teacher at Homestead School from 1973-1976. Jo had also worked in home healthcare and as a housekeeper at Snowshoe Resort. She enjoyed taking long car rides, site-seeing, camping and spending time with family.
Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Monday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted fromt the funeral home Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 11 a.m. Pastor Leon Brown will officiate and interment will follow in Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville.
