Anita ‘Gail’ Murphy Nelson

Anita “Gail” Murphy Nelson, passed into the next life on May 15, 2023, at the ripe old age of 85.

Born at Montrose, West Virginia, to the late Harvey J. Murphy and the late Virginia Ruth Johnson Murphy Bright on Nov. 2, 1937.

She was married to Donald Neil Nelson, who preceded her in death in January 2009. They had been married for 52 years.

She was also preceded in death by a very special daughter, Vietta L. Delauder; and a brother, Roland Lee Murphy.

She was preceded, also, by a biological uncle, who was more a brother than an uncle, Arthur E. Johnson.

She is survived by daughter, Anita Nanette Trammell, and son-in-law Jimmy Lee Trammell; five grandchildren, Danielle Nelson, Antoinette Carter and Justin, Telise Reverol, Stephen Reverol and Stephanie, and Derek Brenwalt; and seven great-grandchildren, Rianne Nelson, Gabriel Carter, Pippin Lewis, Elianna Carter, Tommy Brenwalt, D.J. Brenwalt and Marissa Brenwalt.

She attended the schools of Randolph County and graduated from Elkins High School in 1956. Later in life she attended Davis & Elkins College and graduated with an A.D. in Nursing/Science.

She was a member of the Goff Street Church of Christ and a member of the church for many years.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from noon to 2 p.m., Friday, May 19, 2023, at which time Mrs. Nelson will be moved to the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, West Virginia, where graveside services will be conducted. Minister Albert Brown will officiate and interment will follow.
