Danny Waybright, 78, a resident of Whitmer. West Virginia, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at his home.
He was born May 5, 1945, in Elkins, a son of the late Clarence Waybright and the late Helen Vance Waybright.
On Nov. 18, 1971, at Oakland, Maryland, he was married to Thelma Rutherford Waybright, who preceded him in death Dec. 19, 2016.
Surviving are two daughters, Kellie VanMeter and Alyssa VanMeter, both of Whitmer.
Two brothers, Kenneth Waybright and Donald “Tiny” Waybright and wife, Nancy, of Maryland; one sister, Carolyn Cunningham and husband, John, of Whitmer; one granddaughter, Macey Faidley and husband, Harold, of Clarksburg, West Virginia; one great-granddaughter, Thea Faidley; several nieces and nephews; and his loving dog, Jensen Lee, also survive.
Also preceding him in death was one sister, Audrey; and one niece, Tracy Waybright.
Danny attended the schools of Randolph County and was employed as a laborer for several companies prior to his retirement.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., Sunday, May 28, 2023, at the Whitmer United Methodist Church.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, from the church, with Pastor Steve Wymer officiating.
Interment will follow in the Laurel Hill Cemetery near Whitmer, where full military honors will be accorded at the gravesite by members of the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard Program, H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Danny Waybright.
