Geraldine ‘Sis’ Tingler Raines
Geraldine “Sis” Tingler Raines, 93, a former resident of Whitmer, West Virginia, and a resident of Nella’s at Autumn Lake Healthcare, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023.
She was born June 14, 1929, at Whitmer, a daughter of the late Ted and Ethel Elza Tingler.
She was twice married, first on Sept. 1, 1948, she was married to Robert William Raines, who preceded her in death Jan. 13, 1991, and on Sept. 26, 1998, she was married to Roy Jimmie Day, who also preceded her in death.
She is survived by two brothers, Lewis Tingler of Bowden and Roy Tingler of New Palestine, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death were two children at birth; four brothers, Hermie, Alonzo “Bert”, Paul and Corbett Tingler; and three sisters, Louise Collett, Bonnie Tingler and Donna Zentz.
Geraldine attended the schools of Randolph County and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Whitmer United Methodist Church.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until noon on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at noon, from the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Steve Wymer officiating.
Interment will follow in the Laurel Hill Cemetery at Whitmer, West Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Whitmer United Methodist Church, C/O Pam White, P. O. Box 93, Whitmer, WV 26296 in memory of Sis.
