Hazel Marie Walton, 80, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, died Friday, May 5, 2023, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, West Virginia.
She was born Oct. 5, 1942, in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Henry Cottrill and Dottie Quick.
On Jan. 31, 1998, she married Tex Edward Walton, who preceded her in death on October 20, 2020.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George Ratliff; and two sisters and one brother.
She is survived by two daughters, Dorinda Hall of French Creek, West Virginia, and Terry Shingleton and husband, Greg, of Helvetia, West Virginia; one son, Tim Ratliff of Buckhannon; special niece who she loved as a daughter, Joyce Carpenter of Webster, West Virginia; seven granddaughters, Brandi Stevens, Misty Demodivich, Hillary Lewellen, Anastasia Mackey, April Hall and Tori and Amber Ratliff; 22 great grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren; one brother, Fred Cotrill and wife, Joanna, of Buckhannon; several half-brothers and half-sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Walton was a press operator at Moore Business Forms and attended Independent Word of Life Church. She loved to praise, sing, and worship for the Lord. Mrs. Walton was an avid hunter, fisher, and gardener. She loved cooking for big family dinners and loved her cat/fur baby, Roxie.
Friends will be received Monday, May 8, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, from the funeral home, with Pastor Guy Ware and the Rev. Rick Wyatt officiating.
Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
