Stephen Anthony ‘Steve’ Poling

Stephen Anthony “Steve” Poling, 70, a resident of the Water Camp Community near Belington, departed life Friday afternoon, May 5, 2023, in the Good Samaritan Society at Belington. Although he had been in declining health, death was unexpected.
He was born June 9, 1952, at Philippi, West Virginia, a son of the late Merrill H. Poling Sr. and Helen Marie Wilson Poling.
Steve had never married.
He is survived by two brothers, Duane Poling and companion, Tammy Thompson, of Walkersville, West Virginia, and Merrill H. Poling Jr. of Glenville, West Virginia; two sisters, Michelle Dixon of White Lake, Michigan, and Rhonda Ware and husband, Delbert, of Belington.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews and a whole host of friends.
Steve attended the schools of Barbour County and was formerly employed at Dingess Lumber in Belington. In his former years, he loved to hunt and converse on the CB radio with the handle of “Lonsome Dove.” Steve never met a stranger and was very avid about handing out greeting cards especially at Christmas time and for friends and family on their birthdays. Steve will be extremely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 North Brandenburg Street Belington, WV, 26250 on Tuesday May 9, 2023, from 6 to 9 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Roger Foster officiating.
Interment will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery near Moatsville.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial contributions be made to the Shiloh Cemetery c/o Elaine Gray 1679 South Shilo Road Moatsville, WV. 26405.
