Wanda Virginia Arbogast Ware

Wanda was a daughter of the late Raymond W. Arbogast and Daisy R. Arbogast.

She was born on Aug. 12, 1940, in Valley Head, West Virginia, and was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School, class of 1958.

Wanda was married to Joy Gale Ware on Jan. 31, 1959, in Elkins. They celebrated 53 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2012.

Everything Wanda and Joy did, they did together, from reading the Bible, camping on Cheat Mountain, caring for their dog, Missy, to owning and operating Joy’s Repair.

Wanda is survived by Evelyn Irene Arbogast of Parkersburg, Linda Carolyne Simmons of Elkins, Cindia Long of North Carolina, Walter Arbogast of Florida, David Arbogast of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Richard Arbogast of Virginia and Jeffery Arbogast of Virginia; as well as several nieces and nephews; and Justin McAtee of Mill Creek, whom Wanda and Joy considered a son since they never had children of their own.

Preceding Wanda in death besides her parents, and husband, were two sisters, Freda Lowther and Lucy Shannon.

Wanda was a former employee of Reidbord Brothers in Elkins, West Virginia. In her spare time, Wanda was an avid novel reader and western movie fan, she enjoyed tending garden, and she hand stitched many quilts for friends and family.

A graveside service will be conducted in the Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 15, 2023.
