Jimmy Lee "Jake" Floyd, 85, a resident of the Whitmer Road, Harman, West Virginia, departed this life Tuesday evening, June 13, 2023, at his home. Death was unexpected.
He was born Tuesday, March 8, 1938, at Harman, West Virginia, a son of the late Jimmy Floyd and Auther Leona Mowery Grogg.
Surviving are one son, Andrew Floyd and wife, Linda, of Huttonsville; one daughter, Evelyn Floyd and companion, Kenneth Rowback, of Elkins; Jimmy's companion, Wilda Blaine Kosik; five brothers, David Grogg, James Floyd, Danny Raines, James White and Dewitt "Gus" Pritt; two sisters, Katherine Sleadge, and Rose Davis; three grandchildren, Brooke Davis and husband, Austin, Jalen and Andrew Floyd; one great-grandchild, Waylon Davis; his former wife, Joyce Elaine Floyd; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are two brothers, Robert Mowery and Roy Grogg; and one sister, Joyce Haney.
He attended the schools of Harman, was a mechanic by trade and worked for Henderson Truck Sales at Harman. He was a hard worker, enjoyed visiting people and loved his family.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday. Final Rites will be conducted from the funeral home, Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Andrew Boley will officiate and interment will follow at the Laurel Hill Cemetery at Whitmer, West Virginia.
