Robert Ray Gear Jr. (Frog)

Robert Ray Gear Jr. (Frog), 82, of Mill Creek, West Virginia, passed away on March 18, 2023.

He was born Sept. 11, 1940, in Mill Creek, West Virginia, the son of the late Robert Dewey Gear and Zona Deloma (Hammond) Gear.

Frog married the love of his wife, Patricia Ann Swecker, on July 14, 1968.

Robert and Patricia moved to Michigan.

Robert Ray Gear served in the army and was in the Vietnam War for two years. He earned a Purple Heart.

Robert worked for Chrysler Trenton Engine in Trenton, Michigan, and retired and moved back to his hometown, Mill Creek, in 2004 with his wife. He loved his music, singing, watching westerns and spending time with his family, friends and grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Gear of Mill Creek, West Virginia; one daughter, Rhonda Ann Stratton of Wyandotte, Michigan; three sons, Danny Ray Gear of Mill Creek, Bobby Ray Gear of Michigan and Steve Ray Gear of Mill Creek; four grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Redmond of Copley, Ohio.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers.

Per Robert's wishes, cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life with honors will be held on July 2 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 103 Hamill Road in Mill Creek, West Virginia, for family and friends.
