Ronald Wilson Stemple

Mr. Ronald Wilson Stemple, 83, a resident of the Teter Lake Community near Belington, departed this life Sunday afternoon June 18, 2023. He had been in his usual health but death was unexpected.

He was born April 6, 1940 at Montrose, West Virginia, a son of the late Densel Wilson and Lillian Viola Poling Stemple.

On Oct. 26, 1962, he was united in marriage to the former Kathleen LeVaun Turner, who preceded him in death on May 7, 2022.

He is survived by one son, Michael Stemple and wife, Kim, of the Teter Creek Community; one daughter, Ronda Poling and husband, Brian, of Belington; and one sister, Ada Marie Shahan of the Teter Creek community. Additional survivors include one granddaughter, Kendra Stemple; a niece, Tonda Sullivan and husband, Danny, of Teter Creek Community. Brothers and sisters -in- law also survive.

Ronald attended the Schools of Barbour County and was a graduate from the Belington High School with the class of 1959 and was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church. He was a former past president of the Belington Kiwanis Club. Ronald was honored with a plaque being recognized for saving the life of Ed Whitescarver, following a massive heart attack at the state Kiwanis Club Convention in Parkersburg several years ago.

He was employed as a truck driver most of his adult life working for Poling Trucking, Badger Coal Company and lastly for Pitston Coal in the Southern part of the state, from which he retired.

He was an avid farmer and he was a survivor of the June 23,1944, tornado in Meadowville, West Virginia. He was very proud of his granddaughter whom he loved her very much along with his entire family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington on Monday, June 26, 2023, from 5 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. the funeral hour where final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastors Donna Marshall and Clarence Thomas officiating. Interment will then follow in the Central Chapel Cemetery near Belington.
