Alice Wolford

Alice Wolford departed this world early on the morning of June 26, 2023, after a brief battle with lung cancer.

She spent many of her years working at two of the many lumber related mills that dot Randolph County. The work was hard and physical, but she was always up for the task. During her leisure hours, Alice was known to garden and craft.

Like most members of her community, Alice cared for neighbors in need; one of the many benefits of choosing to live your life where your neighbors are friends, or better yet family.

She leaves behind a son, John Wolford of Cortland, Ohio; a daughter, Christina Whorl and her husband of Waxhaw, North Carolina; a son, Samuel Wolford of Cortland, Ohio; a daughter, Julie Tomlin and her husband, Nicholas, of St. Clairsville, Ohio; and a son, Brent Wolford of Barnesville, Ohio; as well as eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

They grieve for her despite knowing that she is in the loving embrace of those who preceded her.

In addition to her parents, Francis and Ann Rothenberger, Alice is preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Rothenberger; and her loving husband, Kent.

Friends will be received at the Philips Chapel Church in Jimtown for a Celebration of life following internment at the Phillips Chapel Cemetery on July 9 at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the George Broschart Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Robert Broschart, 40 R. Broschart Dr., Coalton, WV 26257.

Arrangements by Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville.
