Anna Ruth Evick Collett

Anna Ruth Evick Collett, 88, a former resident of Elkins and a recent resident of Buckhannon, West Virginia, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023, at St. Joseph Hospital in Buckhannon.

She was born Aug. 29, 1934, at Elkins, a daughter of the late Arthur Phillip Evick and Helen Marie Poe Evick.

On Dec. 29, 1952, at Charleston, South Carolina, she was married to Sherwood "Shub" Collett, who preceded her in death July 3, 1998.

She is survived by two sons, Steven Gregory Collett and wife, Kelly, of Buckhannon, and Brian Sherwood Collett and fiance, Patty Silver, of Riverview, Florida; one daughter, Carmen Marie Casey and husband, Richard "Dick" Casey, of Whispering Pines, North Carolina; one sister, Carolyn Evick Stalnaker of Elkins; four grandchildren, Marc Gregory Collett of Buckhannon, Scott Steven Collett and fiance, Tiffany Johnson, of Morgantown, Lori Ann Casey Carr of Charlotte, North Carolina, Kurt Lee Casey and wife, Chloe, of Whispering Pines, North Carolina; and six great-grandchildren, Emma and Macy Collett, both of Buckhannon, Luke Carr of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Paisley, Conner and Walker Casey of Whispering Pines, North Carolina.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Dwane Collett; one brother, Donald D. Evick; one sister, Marilyn J. Evick Smith; and two brothers-in-law, Jim Stalnaker and John "JD" Smith.

Anna Ruth was a Band Booster for Elkins High School for several years. She was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Elkins and the Ladies Circle of the Church. She had attended the Way of Holiness Church of Buckhannon, West Virginia.

At her request, her remains were donated to the Human Gift Registry.

Interment of her cremains will take place at a later date in the Elkins Memorial Gardens in Elkins.
