Debra M. ‘Debbie’ Saseen

Debra M. "Debbie" Saseen, 67, a resident of Elkins, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at her home under the care of West Virginia Caring Hospice.

She was born Jan. 7, 1956, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Charles and Anna Podolachek.

On Nov. 21, 1987, in Elkins, she was married to Jerry F. "Jay" Saseen, who survives in Elkins.

Debbie and Jay share a daughter, Jaycie, who resides in Atlanta, Georgia.

Also surviving Debbie are two sisters, Diane Oshell, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Darlene Vance and Ed of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Renee McKeen and Ralph of Jefferson, Georgia; nephews surviving include Eddie, Jared, Shane and Brandon; a niece, Lindsey; and her mother-in-law, Marge Saseen.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Ken Oshell; and father-in-law, Jerry Saseen.

Debbie was employed as a teacher by the Randolph County Board of Education for 42 years, including 33 years teaching third grade at Midland Elementary School. She was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading and baking and was an avid Pittsburgh Sports Fan supporting the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.

Debbie's request for cremation will be honored.

A Service of Remembrance will be announced at a later date.

Her family request memorial contributions are made to Midland Elementary School, 150 Kennedy Drive, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Debbie.
