Mrs. Helen Mae McCoy Winans, 92, a resident of Volga, departed this life Sunday morning, July 9, 2023, in the Good Samaritan Society of Barbour County at Belington. Death was following a period of declining health.
She was born on Dec. 16, 1930 at Boulder, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Clyde McCoy and Amanda Phillips.
On Oct. 21, 1949, she was united in marriage to Thurman Winans, who preceded her in death in 1999.
She is survived by one son, Roger Winans and wife, Cheryl, of Boulder; two daughters-in-law, Pam Winans of Belington and Patricia Winans of Buckhannon; and her former companion, Ross Ellis of Jane Lew.
Additional survivors include nine grandchildren, Angela Garrett and husband, Matt, Christina Ferrell, Tim Winans, Mandy Hedrick and husband, David, Holly Winans, Tiffany Hinkle and husband, David, Katrina Moyers, Robert Winans and wife, Chantelle, and Mitchell Replogle and wife, Mandy; 14 great-grandchildren, Shelby Blume and husband, James, Sydney Winans and companion, Logan Lindsey, Madelynn Winans, Savana Hedrick, Cadance Hinkle, Isabell Hinkle, Tyler Ferrell, Jaden Ferrell, Rylee and Bella Garrett, Kelsey Hartman, Curtis, Braden and Allison Moyers, Rhett and Rhenn Winans, Dylan Replogle, Haley Cunningham and Sierra Cussins and husband, Cody; three great-great-grandchildren, Wrenley Moyers, James Blume and Graelyn Lindsey; and grandson-in-law, Josh Cunningham.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, Robert Carol Winans, Mark Bruce Winans and Marshall Cade Winans; and granddaughters, Pamela Winans and Stephanie Cunningham.
Helen attended the schools of Barbour County, was a homemaker and previously worked at Reidboards in Buckhannon as a seamstress.
She was Methodist by faith and attended the Bethel United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed fishing, riding ATV's, doing search word puzzles and going to yard sales.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington, on Thursday July 13, 2023, from noon to 2 p.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Bill Oldaker officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hebron Cemetery on Carrolton Road.
