Sarah Markley, 38, a resident of Huttonsville, West Virginia, departed this life Friday, May 19, 2023, at the Allegheny General Hospital. Her passing was unexpected.
Sarah was born on May 11,1985, in Elkins. She was the daughter of Phillip and Jeanne Walls.
Left to cherish her memory are Abigail Markley, daughter of Sarah and Marshall Markley; partner, Shawn Watson; brothers, Phillip and Benjamin Walls; sister-in-law, Kim Walls; nephews, Matthew, Bryson, and Ethan Walls; extended family and many personal friends and co-workers.
Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Phillip and Madyleen Walls and Jack and Pat McCullough.
Sarah was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School and Fairmont State University. She was a licensed social worker. Her passion was serving others and included working at the WV Children's Home, Laurel Place at Davis Memorial Hospital and Nella's at Autumn Lake. She made a difference in so many lives during her social work career. Sarah was so proud of her daughter. Sarah's happiest moments in life were spent sharing time with Abbie. Sarah also had very close relationships with her family, friends, and co-workers. Sarah loved music, dance, reading, doing artwork and watching movies and true crime stories.
The family's request for cremation was honored.
Sarah loved outings that the Activities Department provided for Nella's at Autumn Lake. In lieu of flowers we are asking for contributions to be made to the Activities Department of Nella's at Autumn Lake Healthcare, 499 Ferguson Road, Elkins, WV 26241.
A memorial service will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m, the funeral hour. Following the service please join the family at the Homestead Community Center for fellowship and dinner prepared and served by the Tygart Valley Homestead Association at 5 p.m.
