James Michael ‘Mike’ Miller Sr.

James Michael “Mike” Miller Sr., 64, a resident of the Crystal Springs Community, passed away Monday evening, Aug. 7, 2023, in the United Hospital Center at Bridgeport, West Virginia.

He was born Nov. 13, 1958, at Carlisle, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Samuel Evans Miller and the late Maureen Harris Miller.

Surviving is one son, James Michael Miller Jr. and wife, Mindy, Elkins; three daughters, Jennifer Rosanna Miller and partner, David Wilson, Katelyn Brook Miller Adkins and Kassandra Bree Miller and partner, Austin Hurst, all of Elkins; three brothers, Kevin Lee Miller, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and John Karl Miller and Samuel Evans Miller Jr., both of Elkins; two sisters, Patricia Anne Miller Bennett of Dailey and Kim Dick of Elkins.

Also preceding him in death was one sister, Carol Lea Miller Mallow; and sister-in-law, Frances Miller.

Thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.

Mike was a graduate of Elkins High School and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from the West Virginia National Guard, where he served for 20 years, including Operation Desert Storm. He later was employed as a Unit Manager at the Huttonsville Correctional Center.

Mike was a member and Chaplain of H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion Riders.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until noon, Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Thursday, from the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Dave Collins officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman, where full military honors will be accorded at the gravesite by the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard Program. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 75816, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 in memory of Mike.
