William Lloyd ‘Willy’ Thompson

William Lloyd “Willy” Thompson, 59, a resident of Parsons, West Virginia, departed this life Tuesday evening, Aug. 22, 2023, at WVU Medicine Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, West Virginia.

He was born Tuesday, March 17, 1964, at Parsons, West Virginia, a son of the late Glen Jason “Buck” and Elva Lydia Ann Fulton Thompson. He had never married.

Surviving are two brothers, Jason James Thompson and Jeffrey Alan Thompson, both of Parsons; one sister, Mary Ann Thompson Griffith of Parsons; niece and nephew, Sarah Ann Harper and husband, Adam, and Eric Michael Griffith and wife, Mistee; great -niece and -nephews, Savannah Brooke Harper, Easton Michael Griffith and Parker Scott Griffith; aunts, Shirley Surguy, Violet Vance Nestor and husband, Murl, and Alma Fulton.

He was a graduate of Tucker County High School. He was an employee of the former Parsons Shoe Factory until it closed, and for the past twenty-five years he was an employee of Colonial Mills at Beverly, West Virginia.

In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, nature and just being in the woods. He enjoyed watching the news and had a love for history. He was an avid Tucker County sports fan. He was very close with his family and spent a lot of time with his brother and with Adam Harper. “Willy” was an all-around kind and caring man, who will be deeply missed. “Willy” was known as a giving person and, even in death, his giving continues through his gift of organ donation.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons, West Virginia, on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 4 p.m. The Rev. James Snyder will officiate and cremation will follow.
